Content & Ad Blockers

#EcomChat on Monday 21st September will discuss “Content Blockers”.

Apple recently announced that they will allow “content blockers” into the iOS app store, and that these will also be able to block content or code when web pages are rendered in Safari. In other words, app developers can build apps allowing iphone/ipad users to block ads, tracking code, or any other items on web pages. These already exist in the Android world, but iOS devices generally make up a greater portion of retailers’ traffic. Will this have an impact?

As ever, there will be 3 conversation starter questions & anyone is welcome to join in using the #EcomChat hashtag on Twitter.

Here are the 3 questions.

  1. Are iOS (and other) content blockers likely to have an effect on retailers? How?
  2. What can website owners do about content blockers from a measurement point of view?
  3. How do you measure offline channels + is it worth the investment?

Join us at 1pm UK time on Monday and do share this post either on Twitter or via email with anyone you think would be interested.

Thanks, Dan & James.

p.s. If you’re wondering “what’s this about?” there is a page explaining all just here.
