Customer Match & Customer-Specific Advertising

#EcomChat on Monday 5th October will discuss “AdWords Customer Match & Customer-Specific Advertising”.

Google AdWords have announced they will now allow advertisers to show ads to customers based on their email address (announced here). The feature will run on Youtube as well as Google Search. Twitter & Facebook already have similar, slightly less sophisticated features. What does this new era of ‘customer-specific’ advertising online mean for Ecommerce?

As ever, there will be 3 conversation starter questions & anyone is welcome to join in using the #EcomChat hashtag on Twitter.

Here are the 3 questions.

  1. What impact will targeting customers directly in AdWords & Youtube by email address have?
  2. What are the best ways for ecommerce sites to use this & similar Facebook/Youtube features? Are there any dangers?
  3. How should sites measure this, and what should they put in place that may help with future advances?

Join us at 1pm UK time on Monday and do share this post either on Twitter or via email with anyone you think would be interested.

Thanks, Dan & James.

p.s. If you’re wondering “what’s this about?” there is a page explaining all just here.
