Social Media Success and Handling Backlash

February 8, 2016

#EcomChat on Monday 8th February will discuss “Social Media Success and Handling Backlash”.

Social is always a hot topic and the rise of paid social is placing the spotlight back on social as a valid channel for customer acquisition and engagement. But social comes with reputation management challenges as your presence is publicly visible and open to scrutiny. Many brands have come unstuck, either through bad intentions exposed or good intentions not hitting the mark. Just recently House of Fraser was on the receiving end of social backlash because of its attempt to appeal to a new audience by embracing emoji love through the #emojinal campaign.

As ever: there will be 3 conversation starter questions and anyone is welcome to join in using the #EcomChat hashtag on Twitter.

Here are the 3 questions:

  1. What makes a social campaign successful – examples?
  2. What makes a social campaign a #fail – examples?
  3. How can marketers manage social backlashes?

Join us at 1pm UK time on Monday and do share this post either on Twitter or via email with anyone you think would be interested.

Thanks, Dan & James.

p.s. If you’re wondering “what’s this about?” there is a page explaining all just here.
