Search Engines: Where Are We Heading? #EcomChat
Afternoon #EcomChat brethren,
Hope you’re all basking in the sunshine and sipping on a thirst quenching caipirinha!
Monday’s chat will delve into the wonderful world of search engines. The focus will be on the implications of the evolution of search engines for ecommerce teams. The intention is to look not at what the algo changes are but what they mean to an ecommerce team i.e. how do you need to adapt and evolve your digital marketing to ensure you’re not creating future headaches?
Outline questions:
- Why do you think the major search engines have made the major changes of the last 24 months?
- How do ecommerce teams need to adapt their thinking to ensure they don’t fall foul?
- What are the interesting quirks and anomalies of SEO that you have picked up on? e.g. for author snippets, Google has experimented with injecting additional author results into SERPs if a searcher uses the browser back button having spent more than a certain amount of time on a webpage.
We hope you agree it’s a relevant and important topic. For us it’s a really interesting discussion – not “gee, we need to get quality links” but “how do I need to change my thinking, and that of others in the business, to ensure everything we do supports our digital marketing program?”. There are some interesting recent posts on the subject and no end of ongoing debate as to what Google is really playing at. We’re looking forward to your perspective on this.
Do spread the word to anyone you think may be interested and please do join in if you’re free at 1pm UK time on Monday, or simply follow the #EcomChat hashtag on Twitter. If you’re wondering “what is this all about?” there is an about page to explain the meaning of life.
Thanks!
Dan & James.
