Market Disruption in Ecommerce
#EcomChat on Monday 7th December will discuss “Ecommerce disrupters”.
Ecommerce good practice is a phrase frequently used when discussing ecommerce sites that do certain things well. But good practice alone doesn’t make an ecommerce business competitive, or stand out in a crowded market. Today we’re going to discuss market disruption – business models, ideas, people, process and technology that shakes things up and provides a genuine point of differentiation. For example, when Snapchat launched many people assumed it was just another social network, yet two years later it has 100m active daily users and a partnership with Square, another disrupter, that enables users to exchange money within the app.
As ever: there will be 3 conversation starter questions & anyone is welcome to join in using the #EcomChat hashtag on Twitter.
Here are the 3 questions.
- What makes something genuinely disruptive for ecommerce?
- Which companies do you consider to be disruptive and why?
- What can other ecommerce teams learn from the disrupters?
Join us at 1pm UK time on Monday and do share this post either on Twitter or via email with anyone you think would be interested.
Thanks, Dan & James.
