The Impact of Black Friday on Ecommerce
#EcomChat on Monday 28th September will discuss “Black Friday and Ecommerce”.
Last year Black Friday accelerated the typical holiday season sales cycle as this US imported marketing frenzy took firm hold in UK retail. In the US it is an established pricing event, in the UK it’s becoming established and dividing opinion amongst business leaders; some accept it as it brings volume, others question the benefit on overall sales. What’s clear is that consumers are now aware of the event and this sets expectation, which inevitably influences buying behaviour. What we’re going to discuss today is whether or not all retailers need to plan for it, and if so, how?
As ever, there will be 3 conversation starter questions & anyone is welcome to join in using the #EcomChat hashtag on Twitter.
Here are the 3 questions.
- Can retailers simply opt-out of Black Friday?
- How should retailers plan to take advantage of consumer interest?
- What are the pros and cons of embracing Black Friday/Cyber Monday?
Join us at 1pm UK time on Monday and do share this post either on Twitter or via email with anyone you think would be interested.
Thanks, Dan & James.
