This week’s topic – Ecommerce Budgeting – Monday 5th November, 2012
This week’s #ecomchat will take place at 17.30 UK time. The topic for discussion is E-commerce Budgeting. This is a topic of much debate between Client side teams, as well as agencies trying to work out how to help them! There is no ‘right way’ to build a budget but there are some key challenges:
- How do you allocate your budget to E-commerce?
- How do you split your budget across different work streams?
- How do you align your budget with business goals/targets
We’ll be focusing the discussion around three key questions. In our experience, these are the most important issues that need to be discussed when deciding how to build an e-commerce budget
Question 1:
How do you build an e-commerce budget – from the top down (£ value, then cascade across programs) or bottom-up (driven by targets like CPA)?
Question 2:
How do companies split their budget across work streams (Platform & Tech, Marketing, Analytics & optimisation, New staff etc)?
Question 3:
What are the most common problems you have encountered when building budgets (either as an E-commerce Manager or at an agency helping a Client)?
Please join in on Twitter using the hashtag #ecomchat. After the chat we’ll post a write-up including any links shared by chatters.
