This Week’s Topic – Ecommerce Platforms – Monday 25th February 2013
This Monday’s #EcomChat (25 Feb 2013) will be at the slightly later time of 18.00 UK time. This week we’re picking up a monster of a theme, one suggested by a few of our regular chatters including @alexmoss and @riavsodha – “Ecommerce Platforms”. Now this is a veritable leviathon of a topic and we fully expect this to break out into lots of focus topics in future weeks, so we’re going to start from the top to look at the big picture.
The focus will be on the key platforms in the market and gauging people’s views on where Magento fits in and whether or not it is an automatic inclusion for an RFP list simply because it’s open source and so readily customisable.
The three loose, conversation-starter questions will be:
- Who are the serious contenders in the UK platform market?
- Should every company consider going open source with Magento [as well as reviewing other platforms]?
- What makes some companies build a customised platform vs. using a platform provider?
Do join in if you’re free at 6pm UK on Monday (13:00 Eastern US), or simply follow the #ecomchat hashtag on Twitter. If you’re wondering “what is this all about?” there is an “about” page to help.
Thanks!
James & Dan.
