Digital Advertising – How to Get Attention
#EcomChat on Monday 16th January will be on the topic: “Digital advertising – How to Get Attention”
We’ve gone from being exposed to around 500 ads per day in the ’70s to between 5,000 and 10,000 today.
Digital advertising’s share of media has grown tenfold from 5% in 2004 to 49% in 2016. Total digital ad spend in 2017 is expected to pass the £10bn mark for the first time and between now and 2018, mobile ad spend will surpass desktop. 50% of outdoor advertising is due to go digital as well this year – it’s all about digital.
But….
With this big surge in ad spend and ad format diversification, customers are becoming saturated with marketing messages. Today’s chat will discuss what digital teams need to do to cut through the noise and deliver campaigns that get attention and drive action.
Some brand are taking bold steps to be different. For example, Cancer Research UK will broadcast its first live op TV ad, showing preventative surgery, which will also be streamed live on Facebook. Is this what it takes to be heard?
As ever: there will be 3 conversation starter questions and anyone is welcome to join in (or just listen) using the #EcomChat hashtag on Twitter.
Here are the 3 questions:
- Can small organisations make online advertising work, or is it all about the money?
- What tips and tricks can help you create ads that deliver results?
- How can you measure ad effectiveness to improve performance?
Join us at 1pm UK time on Monday and do share this post either on Twitter or via email with anyone you think would be interested.
Thanks, Dan & James.
